Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH)
Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on post or you can live off post. If you live off post, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Fort Benning is a military community of of 250,000 residents. Fort Benning’s mission is to be a power projection platform and deploy troops by air, highway, and rail. Units assigned to the base include the United States Army Infantry School, the United States Army Armor School and the western Hemisphere Institute for Security Corporation. Fort Benning is located near Columbus, Georgia. Upon arrival in the area, Fort Benning can be accessed via I-185 South. There are six elementary schools and one middle school in the Fort Benning School System. Students in high school attend the Chattahoochee High School. Fort Benning provides full-day child care centers as well as preschool, hourly care, and before-and-after school programs. Most programs are for children 6 weeks to 5 years or children in K-5.

Most company grade officers, warrant officers, and senior NCOs are not required to live on post and are given a basic allowance for housing. Temporary lodging is provided by Fort Benning Lodging and include 688 affordable guest rooms offering various amenities. The rooms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations are required, and if lodging is full, Columbus offers temporary lodging choices. The Martin Army Community Hospital is the main medical facility at Fort Benning providing inpatient services and emergency room care.
